Deadline for application is February 1.

The Province of Nova Scotia, through Communications Nova Scotia, is offering a $1,200. scholarship for a student studying journalism. The competition is open to students at the University of King’s College, School of Journalism or the Nova Scotia Community College, Waterfront Campus, Radio & Television Arts program. The Atlantic Journalism Awards will administer the award and arrange for the presentation in April.

Entrants should submit one of their stories which have significance and importance to Nova Scotia. The entry could be from print, radio, television, or online. Only one submission per student and no team entries. Please include a short background page about the item and yourself.

Students are asked to submit their entry to the individuals listed below. A panel of Nova Scotia journalists will review the applicants and select the final winner.

Marine Atlantic is offering a $1,200. scholarship to a journalism student attending the College of The North Atlantic journalism program in St. John's NL, who is entering the final year of studies. The Atlantic Journalism Awards will administer the award and arrange for the presentation.

A panel of journalists will review the applicants and announce the winner by mid-April.

The $500 Atlantic Lottery Prize for Journalism Excellence is presented each year to a journalism student or team of students from University of King's College, Halifax, for journalistic work in any medium.

To honour Geoff Stirling, the founder of NTV, OZ Radio, and The Newfoundland Herald in St. John’s NL, the Atlantic Journalism Awards in conjunction with Stirling Communications International is offering a $1,000. award to a student from the journalism program of College of the North Atlantic, NL, who demonstrated independent journalistic thinking and excellence in journalism studies. The award can also include a one or two week job shadowing experience at a Stirling Communications media company.

The $500. CWA/SCA CANADA Student Award of Excellence is presented to a student or team of students from the Nova Scotia Community College, Waterfront Campus, Radio & Television Arts program in Dartmouth NS, who has demonstrated excellence in class work and special projects.

Deadline is February 1.

The $500. AJAs Journalism Prize is presented to a student or team of students in the journalism program of Holland College PEI for outstanding work in journalism studies.
